Welcome back to the mastery method. My name is Anna and I am your host today. As I mentioned last time, I’m going to be a little bit ad hoc with the podcast for just a little while, while I’m working on some things in my bricks and mortar business, which I am excited about just launching some new campaigns in through there.

And so it’s just meant that I’ve needed to. Prioritize my energy a little bit as well as my time just to make sure that obviously everything’s being kept on track and being well looked after. I look forward to being really regular with the podcast again very soon. But in the meantime, I am.

Working on some cool things in the background. I will be getting ready to launch my business school program later in the year. So definitely stay tuned on that. I am looking forward to speaking more about that as that comes up, but for today, what’s really inspired me to hop on. Is actually something that I very lightly touched on in the last, last podcast, and that was about taking your power back.

So what I really wanted to dive into today is what does that actually mean? Like in the 3d, how does that translate? What does that look like? I’m going to give you my understanding of that. My definition of it. Of that, because it is something that’s talked about quite a lot. It is something that is thrown around by all the spiritual gurus out there.

And I know for me that it was actually something a little kind of challenging to master. I didn’t quite understand. Like, what do you mean, take your power back? I’m just like, I haven’t lost a part. A part of me. And so I want to create some understanding here for you as to what that actually means and how it really pertains to your everyday life.

How does that look like in your business? How does that look like in your day? What does that mean for your goals? And when you. Find yourself listening to that and digesting that information. You will actually see that there are lots of ways that you’re potentially losing your power and how that could actually be costing you the opportunity to create the goals and the life that you are looking for.

So I want to start off with defining. What personal power is first and foremost. So my understanding of that as I’m sharing today is that personal power is all about your ability to manage your internal state of being. So that is your internal mindset your thought processes, your energy, your frequency.

Your ability to take responsibility for the actions in your life, for how you feel, for how you respond versus react, or perhaps the other way around, and how you choose to show up and see things through in your life. So your personal power really is all about you managing your state of being so that it remains in the place that you want it to be.

So for example, if you are in a very highly Ongoing stressed out environment and situation. That’s obviously going to be affecting you. That’s going to be playing into yourself. You’re no doubt going to be experiencing a whole lot of stress yourself. That’s normal taking that on and staying with it and then becoming constantly stressed yourself.

Is an element of you losing your personal power because you are choosing. And I say that very carefully and with love, but hear me out on this. You are choosing to take that on and stay with that. And. Operate then from that perspective also. Okay. So when we now look at right, personal power is me. It is my ability to take responsibility for where I am at.

It is all about me stepping out of. Resistance for things that I don’t want for situations. I’m not happy in and moving into a place where it’s like, right. Okay. In order to create change in my external 3d life, these are the things that I have. Change internally first. And then when you start taking that power back, when you start making those decisions about, right, well, I need to make this change so that I can empower myself here.

I’m going to make this different change so I can empower myself here. And when you start making positive changes back into. Putting you into a state where you feel good, you operate from feeling good. You operate from an abundant mindset. You operate from a place of abundant being, for example, we can, you know, interject your own words here at any time so that they suit your relevant experience, but it’s all about you operating from a place of your highest and best wellbeing so that you can be creating in the best way you possibly can.

Now, now that we’ve defined what taking your power back looks like, what that actually means and how to operate from that level, let’s consider some options that perhaps you might not have thought of when it comes to losing your personal power. So the first one that comes to mind, and it’s a very pertinent experience that I’ve.

Been in for a little while and that’s a waiting mode. So when you are waiting for something to happen in your life, you know, like when, When the kids go to school, I’m going to do this. You know, when I finally lose weight, I get to do this. When that bonus comes through, I finally get to do this. And so you miss out on actually doing the things because you’re waiting for something to happen for you.

Now, you may very well have a bonus that’s coming and that’s due, but does that mean that you should put your life on hold and not. Like do anything until that comes through. I’m by no means suggesting go and blow the whole thing before it lands in your bank account. Don’t do that. Quite the contrary. But can you see the perspective of being caught in a waiting mode?

Okay. So that’s just one example. Now, Another example is, you know, things going on in everyday life. It’s like another, not really a waiting mode, but still that when example, it’s like, well, when I lose weight, then I’ll be able to run around with the kids, or then I can go on that kind of slightly more challenging holiday, or then I’ll be able to perhaps meet the partner of the, of your dreams.

If you feel like that’s kind of a block for you. And so an element of you having lost your power is identifying that there’s something that you feel or that you want to happen. So in this example, you know, some weight loss, and identifying that there is a positive outcome on the other side of that.

And. What are you doing about it in the meantime, it’s one of those things where it’s like, yeah, I’m going to lose weight. And then you secretly like munching on doughnuts and Tim Tams and all the rest of it. And, and you’re not managing your calorie intake. You’re not looking after your health, making healthy choices there.

You know, it’s a choice between a banana or a banana muffin, right? If, if you want to achieve the goal of weight loss in this example, you need to align everything to get you to that state. You don’t need to be operating at full fitness level capacity. But every time you make one positive change that supports you and gets you closer to your goals, that is you taking your power back.

When you swap the soft drink for the water, beautiful. When you pick up an apple instead of a chocolate bar, beautiful. Now we all have different health needs. We all have a different, Body composition and chemical makeup, you know, foods that work for one person don’t necessarily work for the other. I’m not subscribed to any one particular belief when it comes to that, but you see my point, it is about making healthier choices for you.

And every time you back yourself and you make that positive change in your life, you’re saying, no, I put me first here. I’m actually going to achieve this goal. I’m doing what it takes to get there. And so when we look at it from the perspective of your business, really classic examples of where you might be losing your power is if you’re running ads and they’re not working, and obviously that stresses you out, you’re concerned about the cost of the ads, that there isn’t a return on investment that’s coming in through there.

There’s, you know, that lost opportunity cost because you’re not having sort of clients coming through that potentially could be if the campaign was successful. And you don’t really know what to do about it. You’ve got an ad manager, for example, who’s running it. It’s not working for you. We all have our version of an example, and even I’ve had this experience in the past where there was like money flowing out the door to pay for ad managers.

And I’m not seeing the return coming through. That’s enough to dishelve anybody. So feeling your emotions in the moment is absolutely required. Absolutely necessary. It is the first step. Fact of what’s going on as well, how you handle the situation and how you manage yourself and how you manage your state of being ongoing and moving forward will ultimately dictate whether or not you lose your power.

So if you call up your ad manager and you absolutely let rip being polite in saying that, you know, That’s not really like you standing in your power in there, but you being assertive, you communicating effectively communicating clearly what’s required, making sure that the parameters are being met for you and your business’s needs as agreed in the beginning, or perhaps taking the opportunity to refine them.

So that they are clearly moving forward. That’s you handling that situation, not only with grace, but in a way where you can get off that phone and go, yep, I, I did good. I feel really good about that. Now we’ve got a strategy and a plan to move forward and to get you and your business to the next level that it wants to go in.

Okay. Another example would be fluctuations that naturally happen in the business. All businesses have seasonalities to them. I know I did a podcast on the seasons a little while back. It’s not quite exactly the same seasons. I mean, I’m sort of more talking about the usual seasons that come through the year.

So for example, in my bricks and mortar coming into school holidays, People tend to be a little bit more away. So we see a little bit of a dip in kind of our regular clients, but then that fills up with a different client base that come through. So there are these natural predictable movements throughout the year.

And if you have your experience of. Of what that is, then you’ve got two choices on how to manage that for yourself. First of all, if you know that the school holidays are quieter, you can either plan to boost them with promotional activities, or you can plan to take the time off yourself because perhaps that’s what you also need.

Both for example, mean that you stand in your power because you’re making empowered. Informed decisions for what works best for you and your business. Whereas if you knew that the school holidays were quieter and you fretted and you fretted and you fretted about them and were concerned, you know, why isn’t this working?

There should be more people coming through. But in the back of your mind, you also know that it is a quieter season. Well, that’s not you standing in your power, is it? That’s you very much giving that away. And all of a sudden we do fall into this lack mindset and this lack mentality. And if we are where our attention is, and if we are our frequency, and I’m having a little giggle here because of a conversation I had earlier today.

And, and this is very much a message, you know, for myself as well. And. If you’re kind of operating from this constant state of potential worry for this example that I’ve highlighted for you, then you’re not operating in abundance. You’re not standing in your personal power. You’re not attractive and you’re not magnetic.

In those moments and the moment you sort of go, right, this too will pass, I’m going to make the most of it. I’m taking the opportunity to do some business development. I’m going to, you know, it may be too late for you to run a promotion, but I’m going to take the time to plan the promotion for the next school holidays.

Or I’m just going to take some time off because that’s actually what my heart truly desires. You instantly. Put yourself back in the driver’s seat and you take your power back. And that, my friends, is everything. Okay? So those are really powerful examples of How you can manage things within your business.

You’re taking the reins back. You’re redirecting yourself. You’re navigating yourself forward. Okay. Now I’m going to take the opportunity to also ask you guys a really powerful question. Cause it’s very important. Kind of at this point in the conversation, if at the end of your life, you Or even like 20 years from now, you got to a point and you were not happy with what’s going on.

Or where you were at, who would you say is responsible for that? Then

conversely, if you do get to the end of your life or 20 years, fast forward from now, and you are happy with everything and you love what you’ve created, who’s responsible for that? Because in both examples. The answer is you, and you can choose to operate from a place of everything is happening to me, and I can’t control anything, or you can operate from a place of everything is happening for me, and you take the good with the bad, you take The curve balls, you take the redirections and you keep putting one foot in front of the other.

You take a moment. When, you know, some trauma hits or you’ve had a stressful event, you pull back, you recharge, you recalibrate, and then you go, right. Do I need to tweak do, you know, there’s many paths to the top of a mountain. I’ve spoken about this as well. It is not a linear growth. You don’t need to, where you started in the way that you thought you were going to achieve your goals doesn’t necessarily mean that’s how you.

You know, get to the end of them. That’s how you achieve them at the end of the day, though. So long as you are making the right decisions, you’re making adjustments as you go and you’re continually moving forward, that is everything that is you totally operating within your power. Okay, so now let’s have a look at the practicality of implementing you operating within a powerful state moving forward.

So I’m just going to take a quick sip of my tea. It is cooling down, down under all of a sudden, like we’ve had a bit of a cold snap come through. It’s not like it’s too freezing, but you know, we haven’t acclimatized yet. So. Jumpers out, hot teas out, dogs are snuggling. So fireplace will be on soon. It’s all very exciting.

Now let’s have a look at two key examples that we can talk about. I’d already mentioned health earlier, so let’s start with that. If you have an idea around wanting to lose weight, that’s always, you know, we can all identify with that as an example. Okay. So you’ve got up and you’re like, I’m going to lose weight.

That’s what I want to do. You’ve set an intention for yourself to create that. Great. Now, the next step is setting a plan to lose the weight and building the strategy as to how that’s going to look like to achieve that for you. Okay. But setting an intention and then having a think about what that’s going to look like, all good steps to start with, they on their own won’t help you lose weight.

You need to put the action. Into it in order to actually achieve that goal. So if you started off with your strategy and you are going to track your calories for a little while, and you’re going to ramp up your exercise and you’re going to make some minor food choices. I love this plan because the simple act of moving more and eating less.

We’ll have a positive effect on you. Okay. One week goes by, two weeks goes by, the scales don’t move. What do you do? Okay. If you just go, Oh, bugger this, I’m out. I’m going to go get some chocolate or some ice cream or some pizza, whatever it is that makes you feel better. Okay. Not standing in your power. Is it now, what do you think in this example, you retaining your power might look like?

And one example is. You going back to your strategy and seeing what it is that you need to tweak. Now, not all calories are equal and I’m not a dietician, so I’m not going to kind of give formal advice here, but I’m extremely well read about this and it definitely is an area of interest. So we do know that not all calories are equal.

You can have a thousand calories of pizza and a thousand calories. You know, and I’m just pulling numbers out of the air for argument’s sake of meat and veg, which do you think is going to be better for you? Or you can, you know, you can even remove the meat if you’re plant based, but let’s think, you know, nice thousand calories of steamed veggies and beautiful salad fresh.

It’s a no brainer. The pizza ain’t going to win, but the calories are equal, aren’t they? So if you might need to have a look at, right. So I’m walking X amount every day. What’s my heart rate. Do I need to walk faster just because you’re out walking, but if you’re strolling, that might not be enough to get your body to move the weight where you’re at.

So rather than giving up, it’s like, let’s make one tweak at a time or potentially a couple if you’re up for it, go for it. And so, right. I’m going to walk faster or I’m going to do sort of a little bit of like. Walk slash run just to get the heart rate up a little bit. Okay. Food choices. Let’s have a look at your macros.

Do I need to increase my protein? Do I need to decrease my protein? I know for me personally, that my body functions better when my protein levels are like my animal protein levels are quite low. Now I understand that it’s controversial. I do understand that that goes very much against the weight loss.

Game, but that’s just me. And so if I wasn’t open to the possibility of, you know, changing things in any way to see what would work, I might not have been able to achieve my goals. So to be able to operate from personal power, to retain your personal power and to achieve your goals is very much about operating from a place of unlimited possibility.

So I didn’t get there today. It lets go back to, do you think you can achieve your weight loss goal within your lifetime? And you’re probably thinking, well, yeah, bloody better and have a giggle about it. But if you remove the timeline there for you, what does that change? Okay. From the perspective of, is this achievable for you?

Now, when it comes to goal setting, I love having a timeline in place because it helps you implement achievable steps and break your goals down into a workable. Into workable plans for you. Now, a lot of us need to have that type of support and need to have that kind of push there to work from so that we are constantly moving forward.

Okay. If you don’t finish everything on your to do list as part of achieving your goal, that’s where I’m just like, right, let’s kind of have a look at the end of the quarter. Where did we fall short? Where do we need to refine our goals for the next month moving forward so that we’re continually getting closer and closer to where we want to go.

So that’s where I think playing with the timelines is important to be flexible in knowing that sometimes there are things beyond our control. There are other parties involved that we have no influence over whatsoever. And it’s just about making sure that we are continually working to get to where we want to go.

Okay. Now within your business, a really good example is that you have an intention about wanting it to grow. And so that’s your intention that we’re setting. Let me ask you though, To what end have you put a percentage figure in it? Did you want to grow your team? Do you want to grow your income? Do you want to grow your profit?

So first of all, like have a big broad goal, but then take the opportunity to sit down and sort of go, right, well, what exactly is it that you Is it beneath that, that I trying to achieve and then put some specificity around that, because to grow your income versus to grow your profit, a completely different strategies.

Yes, there’s elements that absolutely overlap, but they are two different things. Profit is not your income. Now, once you have I’m going to give you a little bit of more specificity around what you want to do, just like in the example I gave you about your weight loss, let’s set a plan around achieving that goal.

Now, for all of my listeners out there, I know that you are excellent at what you do. And that. Perhaps the actual business acumen side of stuff, isn’t your initial forte. It is something you are learning as you go, you are getting better at mastering it, but it isn’t, you know, it’s not your foundational craft that you just excel in.

Okay. So when I say to you, put an action plan towards growing your business, if that suddenly sets off like elements of stress and flutter. With like overwhelm within your, like within your state of being suddenly I’m like, okay, are we getting caught in overwhelm? And is that causing you to like lose your personal power then and there?

Okay. So if you need help with coming up with a strategy around your marketing, and cause you’ve identified that there is overwhelmed creeping in, you reach out to You book a coaching call with me. If you’ve got a marketing team, you ask them and they help you put something together. Great. Okay. Every day you then commit to taking the actions required to execute on that goal and to.

Make sure that you are just like with the weight loss tweaking where you need to watching the metrics, refining kind of what needs to happen so that you are moving forward. That is you operating within your power. You allowing yourself to get caught in overwhelm or stress, That’s you losing your personal power.

That’s not you operating with responsibility. Okay, that’s not necessarily you operating in resistance, but you need to stand in responsibility for yourself, your actions, your mindset, in order for you to be moving forward. Okay. So we’ve talked about quite a lot and I am getting close to drawing this to an end for us today.

What I want you to consider is again, I want to reiterate that your personal power is all about your internal state of being your own ability to be responsible for your actions. And execution. Okay. It’s your responsibility to manage your mindset rather than kind of feeling lost, you know, to stress and overwhelm as mentioned, it’s your responsibility to being committed to figuring things out, being committed to the possibility of whatever option comes to pass to help you get to your goal.

Be clear in the steps that you want to take. Then actually take the action so that you are getting closer to achieving it. Navigate any unexpected hurdles and redirections as they come up. They’re not always bad things. It is very much about you managing the different type of business landscape.

That exists. It’s constantly evolving. It’s constantly changing. And then just keep your end game in sight. Okay. Now I know that I’ve spoken about personal power in the context of achieving. Your goals today. I wanted to do that because it just made the most amount of sense to to me to draw it to you in like a real world 3d context.
